my level of corporate whoredom is ever on the rise. i have been getting up about half an hour earlier than i usually do so that i can get to work on time every day. i actually end up getting to the wc about 10 to 15 minutes early. strangely, this punctuality has served as a total morale booster. having one less thing to feel guilty about at work makes my day noticeably more bearable. that and the not rushing quite as much in the morning. i never thought i'd say this, but getting up a little earlier has been great. great, that is, until i see jen sleeping on the floor, at which point i spend a moment muttering angrily about my lack of sleep. but it becomes great again when i spend more than 30 seconds deliberating about what to wear, and when i take a leisurely stroll to BART rather than a harried powerwalk.
so i lent our transcriber to an office across the hall, and i went to get it back today and they told me it's been eating tapes. first of all, hm, thanks for telling me when i happen to go over, instead of when you discovered the problem. so then i go searching around in the back of our office for a head cleaner. i never did find one, but i did find an assortment of entertaining things, including (but not limited to) a box of FLOPPY floppy disks, those big ol' ones from like 1988, and what appears to be the ENTIRE old phone system. i also found another transcriber in a box that says, "bad transcriber. order new one. 1/31/00." so it is becoming increasingly more evident just how infrequently people get rid of things around here. and i've purged a lot of things, including a stack of manuals for postage meters that we haven't even had for like 20 years. jesusfuck.
and i have a job interview today that i'm having mixed feelings about. no, not really mixed; i've pretty much decided that i'm not going to take it unless the office is amazingly awesome. i think that i'm not going to take another job that is essentially the same as the last two jobs i've had, unless it's at a place that i'm specifically interested in working for. hmph.
my grammar has been terrible throughout, spotty at best, and for that, i apologize. i ain't gon' lie: i copied about half of this from an email.
